Sweet Potato Flour
Sweet potato flour is made by grinding dried sweet potatoes.
Sweet potatoes contain both soluble and insoluble fiber, which can’t be digested. These fibers are fermented by the bacteria in our large intestine, producing short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), such as butyrate. These SCFAs are the main source of energy for the cell lining of our large intestine, so this flour is good for your gut. The beta-carotene in sweet potato flour can be converted to Vitamin A. The right amount of Vitamin A may help in decreasing gut inflammation.
Its #15 remix ranking is due to it being a high carbohydrate flour. It’s best to use this flour in moderation.
It has a naturally sweet, complimentary flavor.
It can also be used in quick breads, muffins and cookies. Cakes, breads and other baked goods need a little more structure so its best to blend.
